    Ziele

    Presenting proposals or results effectively is often critical to the success of projects and the buy-in and implementation of concepts. After you have attended this seminar, you will be able to tailor your presentation to your target audience, employ visualisation media correctly and effectively, and establish and follow a presentation roadmap.

    Presentation and target audience:
    • Definitions: presentation, lecture, negotiation, training course - Significance of the presentation - Analysis of the target audience
    Structure of the presentation:
    • Starting off - Middle phase - Ending the presentation - Presenting yourself –
    Breaking the ice
    Presentation media and visualisation principles:
    • Media usage and significance - Techniques and tools - Choosing the right media - Using handouts - Visualisation rules - Visualisation elements - Charts - Layout elements
    Organisation and presentation:
    • Preparation - Practice presentation - Effective sequencing - The arena (room, seating arrangement)
    Dealing with interruptions, criticism and discussion:
    • Criticism as an opportunity - Dealing with major and justified criticism - Dealing with unfair criticism - Control and discussion - Discussion rules
    How to portray yourself effectively:
    • Preparing yourself mentally - Using stage fright to your advantage - The first impression - Self portrayal - Language - Speech techniques - Body language - Commitment - Audience orientation

    Informationen zu den Dozierenden

    Gaby Rockmann-Partridge studied visual communication in Düsseldorf, Germany and has worked in advertising and marketing for almost 20 years. Initially creative as an art director and conceptioner, later as a consultant with budget responsibilities and finally as owner of an advertising and production agency. From the enthusiasm for human communication as well as the training and certifications in the areas of psychological and systemic counseling, hypnotherapy, facilitation and didactics, her current profession developed as a communication and behavior trainer. In addition, she accompanies people in change processes, conflict situations and challenging life phases in her coaching sessions. She has been an independent training provider since 2003. Since mid-2013 she has lived in Basel.

    Leistungsspektrum / Workload

    Total of 30h (course attendance 16h, preliminary work 5h, homework and follow-up work 9h)

    Besonderheiten

    This course is reserved for doctoral candidates of the Faculy of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Theology.

    Once registration is open, applications will be collected for 24 hours and course places allocated by lot. All registrations received after the initial 24h period will be put on a waiting list and assigned on a first come, first served basis.

    Course places/places on the waiting list will be confirmed by e-mail. Course registrations can only be canceled before the registration period ends (send an e-mail to grace@unibas.ch). Full course attendance is mandatory. Participants who fail to attend a course without prior notification or withdraw after the registration deadline are subject to a fee of CHF 30. In addition, participants who cancel their course registration at a later point in time, are absent without an excuse or do not attend the entire course will, for reasons of fairness, not be considered for course registration in the following semester and will be removed from other courses offered in the same semester.
