Aims
The aim of this course is to introduce you to the basics of Intercultural Communication and to increase your Cultural Intelligence skills.
In essence, being culturally intelligent isn't just a skill, it's a strategic advantage in situations like virtual work and education, negotiation, sales, networking, and more.
It positions you as a well-rounded, adaptable person ready to thrive in the diverse and dynamic landscape of the modern workplace where the art of effective collaboration and success knows no borders.
Content
In this training, we will explore
• Self-reflection and Cultural Identity
• The intricacies of diverse cultures in different Cultural Dimensions, and how these influence business, negotiation, and everyday life dynamics.
• Nuances of communication styles, business etiquette, and decision-making processes across various cultures.
• How our minds and bodies decode, and deal with intercultural encounters.
• Keys to building strong, collaborative relationships that transcend cultural differences, to fostering an environment where diverse perspectives contribute to collective success.

About the Trainer
Monica Shaked Wasserbach is an International Educator, Intercultural Trainer, and a serial EXPAT herself, who navigates life in different cultures in her professional and personal life on a daily basis.
Studied Interreligious and Intercultural Communication at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Language Teaching at the School of Applied Linguistics in Zurich, and Business Sciences at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Switzerland besides further education in several countries.
She works as an Intercultural Communication Consultant for global leaders and international companies in the fields of Government, Business, and International Education.
Her passion is to find practical solutions as an “intercultural fix-it” before things go wrong and of course, teaching what she has embodied through the years.
Workload
Total of 16h (2x 8h course attendance)
Feature
Once registration is open, applications will be collected for 24 hours and course places allocated by lot. All registrations received after the initial 24h period will be put on a waiting list and assigned on a first come, first served basis.
Course places/places on the waiting list will be confirmed by e-mail. Course registrations can only be canceled before the registration period ends (send an e-mail to grace@unibas.ch). Full course attendance is mandatory. Participants who fail to attend a course without prior notification or withdraw after the registration deadline are subject to a fee of CHF 30. In addition, participants who cancel their course registration at a later point in time, are absent without an excuse or do not attend the entire course will, for reasons of fairness, not be considered for course registration in the following semester and will be removed from other courses offered in the same semester.
