    Aims

After this course you will be able to:
    • Tailor your talk to the audience
    • Know how to talk to an investor or other stakeholders
    • Know how to communicate your science in a way that really excites your audience

    Content

The course is made for people who want to infect people with their idea and make it stuck. The course will teach you the necessary tools to communicate your idea effectively. The course focuses on an entrepreneurial setting, where you learn the do’s and don’ts and how to pitch successfully in front of investors and other stakeholders.
After a theoretical introduction in which you learn how to identify your target audience, what the key points of your speech are and how you can communicate in the most effective way, you will pitch your own idea several times.

    Methods

In the first part, the theory will be presented to you. The second part will be hands-on experience. You will be divided into two groups and will go through several rounds of pitches with feedback to improve yourself continuously. At the end, you will present in front of the bigger group and get feedback from peers and the trainers. In addition, if there will be enough time, an investor pitch deck of a known company will be dissected to identify common pitfalls and tips and tricks.

    Target Group

    All Doctoral Candidates & Postdocs

    Requirements

You need to bring an idea that is applicable in an entrepreneurial context. It can be your PhD project, a crazy idea, a hobby, etc. The only requirement is that the idea can be turned into a product, a service or that it can be used to make the world a better place.
