    Aims

By email, over a cup of tea with their supervisor, or on a video call with collaborators: most doctoral candidates and postdocs negotiate several times a week. This workshop focuses on how these negotiations can become more successful while building constructive, trust-based relationships. Through fun role plays, structured reflection, peer feedback, and concise theory inputs, participants develop skills for both creating and claiming value. They also explore a framework for transferring these skills from the workshop room to the real world.

    Content

    · Claiming value at the negotiation table: anchoring, framing, goal setting
    · Creating value: logrolling, addressing the „iceberg“
    · Dealing with difficult counterparts: Reasons for and forms of difficult behaviour; prevention and defence tools
    · Developing a helpful negotiation mindset

    Methods

Highly interactive, hands-on workshop with negotiation role plays drawn from academic and professional contexts. Short theoretical inputs, peer-feedback and personal reflection are integrated throughout.

    Target Group

    All Doctoral Candidates & Postdocs

    Requirements

Participants shall be willing to negotiate in front of the group and to give and receive peer feedback.
