Content

The Cochrane Library is a key resource for high-quality evidence in healthcare. As an international network of experts, Cochrane creates and updates systematic reviews (Cochrane Reviews) that comprehensively gather and critically analyze clinical studies. The Cochrane Library provides access to several databases, with a particular focus on Cochrane Reviews and randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Since 2016, the Cochrane Library has been freely accessible across Switzerland through a national license.

- Brief repetition: defining the research question; Boolean search operators (AND, OR, NOT); content of the Cochrane Library
- Get to know special search functions of the Cochrane Library
- Thesaurus; searching with Medical Subject Headings; with exercise
- Searching with text words / field search; truncation; with exercise

- Search by subject area, e.g., insurance medicine or methodology

Anyone interested in learning complex search methods in the Cochrane Library: e.g. students, researchers and medical staff/clinicians.

Requirements

Basic knowledge of database searching (corresponding to the content of the course "Basics in Literature Searching: PubMed and Other Resources" 24H04212c, which is publicly advertised and taught to medical students as a lecture in the 5th semester).
