    Aims

To learn to navigate academia in a healthy and sustainable way, by building effective thought and behavioural patterns to help us challenge common causes of stress, worry and self-doubt.

    Content

    • To recognize the common challenges that we face in academia and to know we are not alone.
    • To identify self-sabotaging thought processes that undermine our well-being and productivity, including imposter syndrome, worry, low motivation, and uncertainty.
    • To identify behaviours that impede our success (e.g. procrastination and avoidance) and explore more effective (and healthier) short and long-term strategies.
    • To learn to shift our mindset in order to create more mental clarity and mental energy to think, to create, to be present and to thrive.

    Methods

    • Large and small group discussions and activities.
    • Independent thought exercises and workbook activities.
    • Using psychological tools such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness meditation and applying them to our everyday challenges.

    Target Group

    All Doctoral Candidates & Postdocs
